Amandelbult Corporate Social Investment Program

PICM members Johan vd Merwe, Samantha vd Merwe, and Tshepiso Kgama hit the road on October 18th, 2022, to pay a visit to two schools, three clinics, an old age home, and a Thabazimbi soup kitchen. As a contractor for Anglo American Platinum, in Amandelbult, we worked together to reach local communities and individuals in need. Amandelbult spearheaded several corporate social-spend programs and initiatives thats PICM was happy to make a small contribution to.

125 young children were gifted with new school shoes, and were reminded by our managing director, Johan, that nobody should be too embarrassed about their circumstances to attend school. He went on to remind the children that education is the most important factor in lifting yourself and your family out of poverty, and reaching your dreams.

Additionally, six wheelchairs were donated to three community clinics where the residents of Sefikile, Sandfontein, and Northam, would be able to make use of these additions to meet their needs. Botshabelo Old Age Home, where an elderly lady, with the help of some community members, cares for those who are incapable of self-care, was gifted with ten mattresses and bases, as well as linen for her residents.

Lastly, Thabazimbi Feed the Poor received a wide range of cooking utensils, which is much needed, as the organization gives a warm, nutritious meal to over 300 learners daily.

The Amandelbult Times kindly wrote, “Generosity and compassion, as shown by PICM display the spirit of ubuntu, an important virtue of kindness and compassion to which we can all aspire.”

We would like to echo this sentiment and use these words to serve as a reminder to every team member at PICM. No matter how easy it is to get lost in the busyness of our day-to-day work and lives, we have a responsibility to the community and the living environments in which we operate.
